It's All Booked

Over the last few months I have been slowly getting every part of my upcoming trip to England taken care of. My ticket to the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts was secured back in October, but the timeframe to pay it off wasn't until a few weeks ago starting on April 1. Prior to that, back in February, I booked and paid for my flights. Shortly after that I booked my hotels. This past weekend I lined up my transportation from London to the festival site as well as book some extra entertainment while I am in London. Penn & Teller!

Also a few weeks ago the first bit of the lineup was released and over the last week more sections of the festival have started releasing lineups. So far it isn't bad. I'm not going to lie and say it is the best lineup I have ever seen. I don't think anything will ever top Glastonbury 2013 for me, but it is quite solid.

Here is a brief list of people that I'm excited for:

  • Foo Fighters
  • Ed Sheeran
  • Katy Perry
  • Barry Gibb
  • Lorde
  • Run The Jewels
  • The Jacksons
  • The Flaming Lips
  • Halsey
  • Kaiser Chiefs
  • Shaggy

Yes, I'm excited to see Katy Perry. Fight me.

2016: The Bands

Once again another year has come and gone and with it another year of great live music. This year I took on only a hand full of concerts as well as my weekend spent at Bonnaroo. This year I went light on the music at Bonnaroo as I focused on a lot of the other activities around the site, but it was still full of great bands. Hopefully 2017 will be just as amazing.

Road to Glastonbury 2017

I'm not going to make any promises this time. No swearing to post regular updates or anything. I haven't been good about keeping up with making updates so I'm not going to say I will.

Now that that is out of way I can officially say that barring some weird unforeseen circumstance, I will be returning to England and the Glastonbury Festival in June 2017. Last Sunday I woke up at 2:30AM CDT so that I would be awake and ready to tackle the mania that is Glastonbury ticket day. By 3:30AM I had gotten the confirmation that I would indeed be able to make my return.

Lucky for me that I had made some friends over the previous two years that I went because I never actually saw the ticket page myself. All I ever saw was messages that the server could not be reached. I have never seen it that bad the other times. I would have at least made it to the ticket queue landing page. Nope this time the See Tickets servers were greatly overloaded. Thankfully with the group of friends I have we managed to get enough of us through to secure tickets for just about the entire group. There are one or two exceptions, but we will focus all of our internet browser abilities on them come the April resale.

Now comes the task of actually planning the trip. How long will I be there? What will be my flight arrangements? How will I get to the festival? Where will I stay when I'm not at the festival? I hope I can start answering these questions over the next few months.

So like in years past I hope to post updates from now until July when I return home, but no promises.

See you in Pilton.

I think I might be in love. Meet Amalie Bruun. She is a Danish musician and model. The model part is easy explain. I mean look at her. She is beautiful. She has what you would call the look of a model. So yes she is very pretty, but that's not why I might be in love with her.

If I told you that she sings in a pop group that probably wouldn't surprise you. There are plenty of models and actresses that have crossed over in to pop music and vice-versa. She is in fact the vocalist of a pop band called Ex Cops. She has a great voice. They are really good. There is a video below.

If I told you that she plays many instruments you could believe that as well. Anybody who works hard at it can be a really good multi-instrumentalist. She has and she is. She has contributed music to her own solo work as well as collaborating with other musicians.

Now if I told you that she was the woman behind Myrkur, a one-woman black metal band that released a critically acclaimed album last year, could you believe that? Would you believe that? Well you should.

There are people that question her credibility in the black metal world, but it is a world she has always loved. She has said that she is a "black metal girl at heart". And, as evidenced by her self-titled EP and full-length album, M, she is exceptional at making metal music as well.

Amalie is taking pop music and metal music and being a bad-ass at both. She is an amazing talent I can't wait to see what the future holds for Ex Cop and Myrkur. I hope I get the chance to see both live.
