Amon Amarth @ Center Stage

I think one thing that I am going to do just so that there is actual content on this page is to do quick reviews of shows that I go to. These won't be in-depth reviews of every aspect of the show. Instead these will be a few quick lines on what impression the bands left on me. First up is the Amon Amarth show from last night.

Starting off with the opener, Skeletonwitch. This is a band that I have only really known about in name only. Seeing the occasional review and recommendation, but not ever giving them a listen. This band blew me away. Amazing performance. Great stage presence. I will be getting more familiar with their work and I will be seeing them again.

Next up was Enslaved. Another band I was familiar with in name only. Their set started off kind of boring but picked up at the end. Some of their songs were interesting enough that I will be giving them a listen later on but I'm probably not going to go out of my way to see them live again. They just didn't  really do anything for me.

Finally Amon Amarth. This was my second time seeing them having seen them at the Masquerade in an "Evening with" type show. They simply do not disappoint. From start to finish the set was strong. They are an amazing live band and Johan can work a crowd. I can't recommend this band enough.

In short, if this tour is making a stop in your area and you have any interest at all in any of these bands I would highly suggest that you go. It is was a great show and a fun night.

On a related side note, I would like to mention that the crowd was amazing for all three bands. I chose to go up in the stadium seating as opposed to my usual spot on the floor. It was amazing being able to see the crowd from above at a show like this.

My next planned concert is next Saturday when I will be seeing Dark Tranquility, Omnium Gatherum, and Exmortus at The Masquerade. We will see if I actually do another one of these posts.
