I will admit that I am 100% completely biased toward Anathema. They are one of my top 5 bands at the moment. They have been together for over 20 years and this was the first time they had ever played in the southern US. So to say I was looking forward to them would be such an understatement.
They did not disappoint. Amazing show. I hope that I get a chance to see them do a full headliner set sooner than later.
The crowd was less than amazing. This was a HIM crowd. They seemed to be puzzled by the slower softer sound. I got the feeling that most of them liked it, but just didn't get in to it.
It's like I swapped places with the rest of the crowd for HIM. They are a good band. They are good live. I just really didn't get in to them. The rest of the crowd was in to it so that was fun. They are a really good live band, its just that the music really didn't do anything for me. They aren't a band that I will go out of my way to see, but I'd probably give them another shot if they were on the bill with another band I wanted to see.
